Honourable Freddie Reu Kumai is a prominent figure in Papua New Guinea, known for his successful career as an accountant and his active involvement in the community. He was born and raised in Ward 8 Talasea LLG, where he spent most of his childhood.

Freddie Kumai pursued his education in accounting and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Divine Word University in 1997. He also obtained a Diploma in Business Studies in 1994. After graduation, he started his career with Ernst & Young Chartered Accountants and later worked with Michael Mayberry Chartered Accountants between 1995 to 2003 as a senior accountant and senior auditor.
Freddie Kumai also worked as a stock auditor for Collins & Leahy Group of Companies and as a project accountant for Audit Financial Controller Cape Hollman Corporation Ltd from 2003 until 2023. He also ventured into private entrepreneurship, founding and chairing Guroru Oil Palm Estate, leading the Fkumai Business Consultancy as its principal, and managing Kimbe Car Rental Service and Kimbe Stationery and Office Supplies Shop.
Freddie Kumai's dedication to his community is evident in his active involvement in various organizations, including being a foundation member of Kimbe Cutters, serving as the president of Kimbe Rugby league, and being a finance board member of Kimbe Catholic Diocese.
Outside of his career and community involvement, Freddie Kumai is a devoted Catholic and family man. He is married and has five children, with his eldest studying at Torrance University in Brisbane, and his second child studying at UBS University. His third child is a female grade 12 student at KIMSEC, and his fourth child is a female grade 10 student at KIMSEC. His youngest child is a grade 4 student at Kimbe International School.
Honourable Freddie Reu Kumai continues to serve his community as the Member of Parliament for Talasea Open, representing the people of his constituency with dedication and passion. His contributions to Papua New Guinea have earned him great respect and admiration from his fellow citizens.
